Affiliate Disclosure

Some of the free gardening guides on this site include affiliate links. This page explains what that means and how those links are chosen.

What an Affiliate Link Is

An affiliate link is a tracked link to another company’s website. If you click one and then buy something, Garden City Plant Care may earn a commission on that sale. You do not pay more because you used the link.

This site has affiliate links with two seed companies, both through the Awin affiliate network: Botanical Interests, based in Broomfield, Colorado, and True Leaf Market, based in Salt Lake City, Utah.

How You Can Tell

  • Affiliate links sit in a shaded note that names the seller.
  • The same note says, right next to the links, that they are affiliate links and that Garden City Plant Care may earn a commission.
  • Affiliate links open in a new tab, so the guide you were reading stays open.

How Recommendations Are Made

Variety recommendations on this site are based on Montana State University Extension guidance, other land-grant university sources, and published variety details such as days to maturity and cold tolerance. Variety links go only to the exact variety an article already discusses. The two articles about buying seeds also link to a seller’s vegetable seed section as one online option. A commission does not decide which varieties are recommended or in what order.

Botanical Interests is also the seed company we use ourselves, which is part of why we joined its program. That is a statement about the company, not a claim that we have grown every variety we link to. When Botanical Interests carries the exact variety an article recommends, that is the link you will see. True Leaf Market links fill in varieties Botanical Interests does not carry. Unless an article says otherwise, a variety recommendation is a researched pick for Missoula’s short season, not the result of a personal growing trial.

Local Sources Come First

Missoula has good local places to buy seeds, starts, and seed garlic, and the guides point to them. An online link is there for convenience, not as a replacement for a local garden center, farmers market grower, or seed swap. Buy wherever works best for you. For local options, see Where to Buy Seeds in Missoula and Western Montana.

Cookies and Privacy

When you click an affiliate link, Awin and the retailer may use cookies or similar technology to record that your visit came from this site, so a purchase can be credited. Garden City Plant Care does not receive your name, contact details, or payment information from those purchases. See the Privacy Policy for more.
